Girard-Perregaux launches “Infinity” limited edition watch with black Inyx dial
Girard-Perregaux replica will launch eight new watches, seven of which will have a black Inyx agate dial with the theme “Infinity”. Patrick Pruniaux, chief executive officer of Girard-Perregaux, announced that “agate agate is the new black”. These works include new concepts for high-end watchmaking, models based on its antique watches, and two new works, which will be sold exclusively through a well-known German retailer.
But perhaps the most important unveiling was a new design based on the iconic 1867 “Three Bridges” clock of the Swiss luxury watch brand. Two watches were launched using this new concept.
Pruniaux said: “All these novelties convey our infinite passion and commitment to maintaining the company’s reputation for extraordinary craftsmanship.”
These watches will be held on the opening day (Wednesday) of the first “Geneva Watch Day” luxury watch exhibition, and the exhibition will last until August 29. About 16 watch brands will participate in a four-day event (including hotels, pop music, showcases and flagship stores) in different locations in Geneva to encourage social distancing. The event was created for the two largest Swiss watch fairs cancelled due to the global coronavirus pandemic-Watches and Wonders 2020 (formerly SIHH) and Basel World Watch and Jewelry Fair 2020 (renamed Houruniverse). Due to these cancellations, Geneva Watch Day will be the only important gathering of the Swiss watch industry in 2020.
Liberty Bridge and Infinite Bridge
Two watches of the 2020 model lead the trend: Free Bridge and Free Bridge Infinity. Each watch has a unique arrow-shaped “Neo Bridge” across the bottom of the motherboard to update Girard-Perregaux’s iconic design.
Both watches are powered by the GP01800-1170 self-winding movement and have a power reserve of 54 hours. The internal movement has been updated, and the escapement wheel and balance wheel parts are made of silicon. The movement is finished with Côtes de Genève pattern by chamfering, sandblasting and staples. The opening on the dial reveals the balance of reverse movement, escapement and clockwork.
In addition, both models are equipped with a newly designed sapphire crystal box with a unique dome shape.
The hour bridge of Free Bridge is satin polished and chamfered, while the hour bridge of Free Bridge Infinity Edition is made of black black agate. The time bridge includes straight lines that contrast with the curve of the case. Both wholesale watches are housed in a 44mm stainless steel case. The Free Bridge case is made of polished steel, while the Free Bridge Infinity Edition uses DLC-treated steel.
Free Bridge has a hollow Dauphine style pointer that matches a floating index to give the current time. The floating index enhances the 3D design of the model. Free Bridge Infinity Edition uses gold tones to convey other characters. The color-coordinated straps of both models have been enhanced, with two lugs adjacent to each lug, represented by contrasting shades. This design detail will become an iconic design element often used by Girard-Perregaux.
