Hands-on the Artisans de Genève “Honey Pearl” project, or how to skeletonize the Golden Nautilus 5711

Another demonstration of high-end personalization applied to the golden Nautilus 5711

The personalization of a timepiece can take many shapes, from the classic black coating to the controversial gem fusion (the so-called icing process). But the mission of some seminars is to prove that customization can consider taste and high-end timepieces. And Artisans de Genève is undoubtedly the best in this work. This team of professional craftsmen is famous for deeply transforming the appearance of watches and applying complex hollowing technology to the movement. They only work at the request of customers. Following the initial carbon element pearl project, the workshop today launched a very attractive new gold version-Artisans de Genève “Honey Pearl” project.

We have said in the past that Artisans de Genève is one of the most eye-catching personalized workshop watches when presenting the first carbon fiber bezel “Pearl Project” or the recently co-produced “Cool Hand Brooklyn Skeleton” with Spike Lee. This is more than just changing the dial or adding coatings. The work done here is more in-depth, including modifying the case, adding new materials, and one of their specialties, the modification and hollowing of the movement, and re-decoration by hand in a traditional way. Although the style of these works may be polarized-it actually reflects the choice of the owner of the Popular watch used as the base-but one must recognize the impressive quality of the work done.

The latest personalized project launched by Artisans de Genève is a new interpretation of the pearl project, which aims to add hollowing and haute horology to the Nautilus 5711. The first project stems from the wishes of the customer and the owner of the steel version of this watch, hoping to differentiate it with the unique carbon fiber bezel. For the new “Honey Pearl” project, the base provided by the customer is 18k rose gold Nautilus 5711/1R, and the work done by Artisans de Genève once again reflects his desire, but also the technical know-how and traditional watches.

Based on this famous luxury sports watch, a new color palette is defined to create harmony between lines and colors while also providing classic high-end watchmaking pleasure. The movement is completely open and finished by hand. Here, the original 18k rose gold case, bezel and bracelet are kept intact, except for the personalized case back engraved with specific documents, and the reworked movement can be seen. The second chapter of the Pearl Project also did not incorporate modern materials, resulting in a more pleasing design, both luxurious and elegant.Patek replica

The real difference between the Honey Pearl Project and the original watch is its dial and transparent back cover. In fact, most of the work done by Artisans de Genève is focused on creating new color schemes and new dial designs. Therefore, the original dial has been replaced by a blue chapter ring, giving the movement a clear view. This ring uses newly designed and manufactured hour markers, made of 18k rose gold and filled with luminous material. It is beveled and shows a vertically brushed surface. Similarly, customers want to have newly designed hands that are multi-faceted, inclined and straight.

In addition to these changes to the residence, most of the work Artisans de Genève did on this honey pearl project can be seen on the movement. The workshop uses the original 26-330 SC movement of the donor watch, completely hollowing out the automatic movement, and most of the parts are carved with impressive precision and attention to detail. All parts are carefully cut, satin-finished and finely beveled by hand. The balance bridge even shows an impressive arm with a mirror-polished surface. The back of the watch shows the original round texture surface on the plywood, and the original gold rotor has been finely hollowed out and cut obliquely by hand. The result retains the elegant fusion of satin brush and mirror polished finishes, but the contrast is higher due to the anthracite treatment of the bridge and plywood.

With this new honey pearl project, Geneva craftsmen once again demonstrated their impressive craftsmanship. Remember, this personalization is requested by a private client. It is a sample of proprietary technology and therefore reflects the wishes of the original watch owner, and all modifications are made according to his requirements. The overall appearance is definitely polarized, which does not mean that everyone will appreciate it, but the level of execution is once again spectacular. The price will not be disclosed, but you can of course contact Artisans de Genève to create a creation based on your own watch to reflect your personality.

IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Edition “Le Petit Prince”

A complicated pilot’s watch with perpetual calendar and tourbillon, made of luxurious 18k Armor gold, and decorated with the little prince of Antoine Saint Exupery.

One thing is to associate a series of watches with famous air squadrons and even specific types of aircraft, but when IWC came up with the beloved character of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) When the idea of the little prince (Le Petit Prince), it flew directly to the hearts of many watch lovers. Not only is the author of “The Little Prince” a pilot and adventurer, but his character and humanistic values have inspired generations of readers. Since the IWC and the heirs of Saint-Exupéry consolidated their partnership in 2006, the “Little Prince” special edition has become the brand’s favorite. The latest model Big Pilot’s Watch IW504803 is a limited edition of 50 pieces, made of luxurious 18k gold, which perfectly combines the perpetual calendar and flying tourbillon.

The little prince
With the model, from the simple time and date power reserve indication all the way to the complication ladder GMT watch, chronograph, perpetual calendar, combined split-second chronograph and perpetual calendar, a constant force tourbillon and today, impressive gold QP and tourbillon When it comes to flywheels, the “Little Prince” series provides collectors with a wealth of diversity and complexity. The iconic features of the “Little Prince” series are the blue dial, the elegant interpretation of the classic Flieger watch, the stylized Arabic numerals and the relief of Prince Saint Exupery on the back cover or dial – depending on the complications involved.

Perpetual calendar and tourbillon
IWC is famous for its perpetual calendar watches, thanks to the ingenious movement developed by IWC chief watchmaker Kurt Klaus in the 1980s. A complex mechanical device that recognizes the different lengths of months and leap years, and (if kept on the chain) does not need to be adjusted until 2100, while the perpetual calendar moon phase display only needs one day adjustment in 577.5.

IWC’s first pilot’s watch equipped with a tourbillon is the 2018 “Little Prince” model. In the same year, the combination of perpetual calendar and tourbillon also appeared on the 150th anniversary edition of IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon. Therefore, in order to further expand the scope of complex functions, what we are showing today is the precision perpetual calendar and flying tourbillon in the large pilot watch of the “Le Petit Prince” series.

Armor gold
Like IWC’s other proprietary material, Ceratanium, a special titanium alloy that is as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramics, Armor gold is a new type of gold alloy that is harder and more wear-resistant than traditional 5N gold. Armor gold, which was first used in Big Pilot’s Watch Constant Force Tourbillon “Le Petit Prince”, once again appeared on the case of this perpetual calendar tourbillon. The case is 46.2 mm wide and 16 mm high. The case and oversized tapered crown are made of 18k Armor gold. The finish reveals a brightly polished crown and bezel, while the lugs are brushed to create contrast.

Complex layout
Although the layout of the complications on the dial is similar to the Portuguese series, the watch still retains the soul of its retro pilot’s watch. The one-minute flying tourbillon adds vitality to the noon scenery because its balance wheel rotates around its axis in the cage to reduce the influence of gravity on the adjustment mechanism. The tourbillon that adjusts the movement is cantilevered from the main board, and there is no splint on the top to interfere with the field of vision. A little regret, because the QP of this Big Pilot IW504803 is a module, the tourbillon is located in the lower position of the dial…

Three sub-dials with snail-shaped outer orbits are located on a blue dial with a sun-brushed finish and have a calendar function: the date and power reserve indicator is at 3 o’clock; the moon phase and the moon are displayed at 6 o’clock. Month; day of the week at 9 o’clock; four-digit year is displayed in the rectangular hole below the eight o’clock position. As Brice explained in his article on Portugieser, the tourbillon at 12 o’clock determined by the 51950 movement means that the moon phase function must be repositioned in the sub-dial of the month.

Surprisingly, despite the large amount of information conveyed on the dial, it is very balanced and legible. Like other “Little Prince” watches, the stylized Arabic numerals give the watch a distinctive personality. It is made of 18K gold and painted with luminous paint. The propeller-shaped gold-plated pointer with a slender tip is also an iconic feature of the series, in sharp contrast with the red arrow pointers used to display the date, month and week. However, the first thing most of us will look for is the little prince, and for fans of the series, the good news is that he appears not once but twice. Depicted as part of the moon phase complication and surrounded by stars, he also appears on an 18k gold rotor, standing on his flower-filled asteroid. Like other “Le Petit Prince” watches, the strap is made of brown calfskin with white stitching and folding clasp.

The tourbillon and perpetual calendar movement 51950 is automatic. It is powered by an 18k gold oscillating weight, which beats at a frequency of 19,800vph, and provides a powerful 7-day power reserve, distributed in two barrels. With the charming decoration of the prince on its asteroid, the rotor of this model can still see a glimpse of three-quarters of the large plate and moving parts.

URWERK UR-100 Gold Edition

The new Gold Edition is the fourth episode of URWERK UR-100, an exclusive collection of atypical timing tools inspired by the navigation of the Milky Way. The UR-100 watch is developed and produced by the Geneva watch studio URWERK. It breaks the boundaries of technology, design, instruction and function.

The UR-100 has an elongated octagonal case with three notched sides. This UR 100 is cut from a solid block made of 2N gold, and its surface is tinned, with the same light luster as the “Star Wars” robot. The top of the shell is sapphire crystal bubbles, reminiscent of the shape of the first URWERK model, and the dome houses this control center for interstellar visitors.

The UR-100’s rotating satellite displays hours and minutes. The isochronous rotation produced a miniature cosmic ballet. When hour satellites crossed 120 degrees on a bright green scale, they also displayed minutes. The bold red arrow indicates the intersection of hours and minutes, providing a unique, clear and easy-to-read intuitive time display. replica mens watches

Even when operating at low speeds, the automatic winding system will not be overloaded due to Windfänger’s adjustment of the oscillation quality: the planetary gear limits the rotor’s rotational speed, minimizes excessive winding and wear, and maximizes Reliability and service life.

Careful space-time indications on both sides of the top of the outer periphery of the dome are essential for interstellar navigation and are unique on Earth. After each of the three red minute arrows passed the number 60, they disappeared, and then reappeared on two separate kilometers scales.

The first display at 9 o’clock marks 555 kilometers of the earth traveling along the equator for 20 minutes of rotation, and the second display at 3 o’clock indicates the distance of the earth’s revolution around the sun – 35,740 kilometers for more than 20 minutes.

In order to participate in the fight against Covid-19, URWERK will auction the first gold UR-100 “Fight C-19” on the URWERK website and distribute all the funds raised to the organization that fights the COVID-19 pandemic.
